CHINA–PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC. People’s Bank of China. 2 Yuan, 1975. P-UNL. Proof. PMG Uncirculated 62.
This incredible offering contains a note that was designed for the 1975 People’s Republic but never issued to the public. Printed with the popular Stars watermark throughout the design on Bank Note Paper. This rarity is found with a pink and blue color throughout. A vignette of Wang Jinxi, known as “The Iron Man” found at dead center. The reverse shows a construction dump truck and excavator at a construction site. Measurement marks, mounting remnants, Printer’s Annotations, and hole punches found in the selvage, and margins of the piece that fortunately do not interfere with the beauty and overall eye appeal of this scarce proof. PMG notes these characteristics by commenting “Note Unaffected by Mounting Selvage.” This highlight will surely be a treasure in even the most advanced collections as very few have ever been seen. The last example we have found showing any similarities to this precious jewel, sold publicly in Beijing, exceeding over $250,000 USD when accounting for the exchange rate of RMB at the time.
